Required Information for Prospective Students

 

Program: Veterinary

Duration of Study: 5 (Five) Years

Language of Instruction: Turkish

 

Preparatory Education:

Optional 1(one) year is provided at the Central Foreign Languages School.

First Education (Formal Education)

Tuition Fee:  

No tuition fee is charged in the first education programs.

 

Diploma:

Although there are currently 5 departments and 21 main science branches in our faculty, a diploma is given through a single program. Students who successfully complete the 5-year veterinary medicine education earn the right to receive the title of "Veterinary Surgeon" with a master's degree.

 

Internship Status:

A total of 40 business days of internship work is required at the end of the 3rd and 4th grades.

 

Location of the Higher Education Program:

MAKU Istiklal Campus-BURDUR 

 

Where Education and Training Will Be Conducted:

In our own buildings on the MAKU Istiklal Campus.

 

Program Accreditations:

Our faculty has been registered as a national "Accredited Faculty" by the Veterinary Medicine Education Institutions and Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Association (VEDEK) until 28.12.2025. On an international level, as of 13.12.2022, our Faculty has been accepted as an "Accredited Faculty" by the European Association of Veterinary Education Institutions (EAEVE) until October-2026.

 

Clothing and Equipment:

It is mandatory for our students to wear the work apron and boots determined by our Faculty to use in practice areas. 

 

Part-Time Student:

In our unit, students are employed in temporary jobs in part-time status with the approval of our Rectorate in the areas where we need, as much as the quota determined in the Executive Board.

 

Providing Lunch Aid: 

The number of students to be given free meal aid, who do not have sufficient financial means, is determined by the University Management Board upon the proposal of the SKS Directorate, at the rate of 1% of the total number of students in the program. The approved students benefit from the lunch aid at the Central Dining Hall.

 

Scholarship: 

According to the Law No. 5102, 1% of the student quotas in the OSYM Guide is allocated to universities as KYK scholarship quota.

 

Dormitory: 

There are dormitories of the Higher Education Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK).

 

Job Opportunities:

Veterinary Surgeons have the chance to find jobs in many different workplaces. Animal care, animal production, control of animal reproduction, animal health control are among the main duties of Veterinary Surgeons. They can also conduct research on animal biology. The main places where Veterinary Surgeons work are listed below;
