Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Department of Surgical Sciences conducts education, clinical practice, and scientific research activities aimed at the diagnosis and treatment of surgical diseases in animals with a holistic approach. Our department has 2 professors, 4 associate professors, 2 assistant professors, and 1 lecturer, and maintains a contemporary, practice-oriented, and student-centered education program at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Our Department of Surgical Sciences provides treatment services for all animal species in the small and large animal clinics located within our Faculty's Animal Hospital. To this end, our Animal Hospital includes an anesthesiology and resuscitation unit where our department operates, modernly equipped operating rooms, radiodiagnostic and endoscopic imaging units. Thanks to this infrastructure, soft tissue surgery, orthopedics and traumatology, neurosurgery, veterinary dentistry, ophthalmology, physical therapy and rehabilitation, minimally invasive procedures, and advanced imaging-supported diagnosis-treatment applications are effectively carried out. Additionally, the management of emergency surgical cases, intensive care processes, and postoperative follow-up services also hold significant importance among clinical activities.
Our Department ensures that undergraduate and graduate students gain professional competence through clinical practices and field studies while continuing its scientific production within the framework of university-based and nationally supported projects. With its structure that prioritizes quality in education, research, and service areas, the Department of Surgical Sciences is a respected center for education and practice at both regional and national levels.
